About Total Learning Center LLC
Total Learning Centers is a privately owned, academic, brain-based learning facility in the Pittsburgh, Pa., area. TLC offers one-on-one tutoring in an open, child-friendly environment for clients ages 5 through adult. Founded in 1999, by Drs. Joe and Carol Utay, TLC prepares students today for success tomorrow through direct, intensive, research-based methods to ensure significant gains in reading, writing, math, attention, processing, working memory and more. Dr. Joe Utay, Director of Counseling and Evaluation Services for Total Learning Centers and former professor for Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Counseling, is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, a school psychologist, marriage and family therapist, author, national speaker, and father.
Dr. Carol Utay is Executive Director of Total Learning Centers. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and an expert in learning and special education. Dr. Carol has experience as a principal, Orton-Gillingham reading therapist, teacher, consultant, national speaker, professor, author, and mother. She is also a national Athena Award winner for community service.
