Dr. Carol Utay, Inspired Woman for 2012Dr. Carol Utay, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Total Learning Centers, was selected as the winner of the Inspired Woman Award for 2012. This award was designed to honor a woman who shines as an outstanding leader in the community. Dr. Utay was honored with a luncheon at the Pittsburgh Marriot North on July 13th. Dr. Utay dedicated her award “to all those kids convinced that they are broken, who are sure they can’t pay attention, think, remember or show what they learn. May they come to truly know that they are competent and capable and can not only succeed in and out of school, but also become inspiring men and women.”

The ATHENA Award is a yearly recognition of a woman or man who devotes time and energy to improve quality of life for others in Westmoreland County. Cited for her leadership, Dr. Carol Utay was honored on May 18th, 2011.
Awarded to the top CEOs in the Pittsburgh area, receiving the Diamond Award is a significant achievement in the field of business. Dr. Carol was honored for her innovations in business which has led to helping hundreds of children.

2010 IABC/Pittsburgh Business Communicator of the YearCompeting with organizations such as Bayer, Sony, and H. J. Heinz, Dr. Carol Utay was named the Business Communicator of the Year. In the award’s 30 years of existence, this is the first time a CEO of a small business has earned the honor of Communicator of the Year.
2010 Mental Health Association of Westmoreland County Innovations in Education AwardCited for her dedication to the educational community as well as her commitment to children with learning differences, Dr. Carol Utay was named the 2010 Mental Health Association of Westmoreland County Innovations in education Award winner.

1998 Appreciation of Outstanding Service – Kentucky Mental Health Counselor’s AssociationAs President of the Kentucky Mental Health Counselor’s Association from 1995 to 1998 Dr. Joe Utay was honored for his tireless efforts in promoting standards of excellence in counseling.
2002 – Black Belt in Kung FuAfter years of training, Dr. Joe Utay accomplished one of the highest honors one can achieve in the study of Kung Fu. By utilizing the same strategies that he instills in his clients, focus, attention, and determination, Dr. Joe inspires children through his actions.
