Step into a Total Learning Center and you’ll see an active,
open learning environment that’s positive, yet no-nonsense.
Yes, there are the cases of prizes that are a reward system
to enhance child motivation. There are also shelves of student
binders that contain all of their hard work.
After all each child has unique gifts and because of this, TLC
crafts a personalized program just for him or her based on an initial
evaluation. And it’s not just any “canned” program, it’s
the most leading-edge research-proven learning strategies in the
world for the spectrum of abilities.
These personalized programs, whether one-on-one or in small groups, are taught by some of the brightest, most committed teachers in our region. Because there can be a medical basis for many learning problems, we work with pediatricians and other medical professionals to provide comprehensive solutions.
The Drs. Utay are always adding new and exciting capabilities to the
mix at Total Learning Centers, and that’s what make TLC better
and different. They look at the total child and offer total solutions
with the promise of meaningful progress.

The Three Levels of TLC
Total Learning Centers offers three levels of state-licensed and approved learning assistance for students.
Support
Less intensive than tutoring or remediation, support will follow a school's curriculum, providing the student with a stronger academic foundation. By reinforcing what is taught at school, TLC Support makes learning a smooth, efficient process that children will enjoy. Students, spend on average, four months at TLC and can work on a variety of subjects, including math (algebra, geometry, Integrated I, II, III, and other areas), study skills, and the metacognitive aspects of paying attention.
Tutoring
Based on specific test results, tutoring targets weak areas, and helps bring the student "up to speed" when he or she begins to fall behind. Although it does not follow a school's specific curriculum, it will benefit the student's school work by improving the general understanding in a current subject area. Tutoring is typically needed in a given subject area over the course of an entire school year, and, sometimes throughout the summer, rather than a shorter, more intensive program of study such as remediation.
Remediation
Specific test results will allow TLC to find gaps in the learning process itself that are causing academic difficulties for a student. Once identified, these gaps are targeted and quickly bridged through an intensive, individualized, multi-sensory program. Typically, when the gaps and holes in the learning process are bridged, a student will be able to move on, and realize significant academic success, and improved self-esteem.
